The 7th graders and kindergarteners were so blessed to spend a beautiful fall day together at the pumpkin patch! Homestead Farms in Poolesville, MD is home to not only pumpkins big and small, but also an array of lively, playful animals! Both 7th graders and kindergarteners alike enjoyed petting, feeding, and watching the animals, including goats, cows, and chickens. After meeting the animals, the group also enjoyed a pleasant hay ride to arrive at the actual pumpkin patch! And what a pumpkin patch it was! There were pumpkins of many colors abound; yellow and green pumpkins were there, along with the traditional orange variety. The 7th graders helped pick out and hold the heaviest pumpkins for their kindergarten buddies – they were lifted right off the stem! Finally, the adventurous buddies enjoyed a lunch in the farm's pavilion area before returning to St. Mary's in the afternoon. Fall is a time to enjoy so much of the natural beauty that God has given us: the ever-changing colors of the leaves, crisp air, and of course, pumpkins! We are blessed to spend the time together and truly BE buddies!
